I just ordered my 5th pair of Amberjack shoes. I work in an environment with kids that requires me to wear dress attire, but also to be able to interact with kids. Thus, typical dress shoes do not work. They either look nice but are uncomfortable or they are comfortable but look like old man shoes. Additionally, God bless me with slightly wide feet feet so it makes it either harder for me to find a pair of nice looking dress shoes that are actually comfortable for my line of work all day. I wear a size 12, but my feet are too wide for the typical 12. Moving up to a 13 did not work because they felt like clown shoes as the length was too long. Thankfully, Amberjack finally got shoes in a wide and I have been a pretty happier camper. Initially, I wouldn't say Amberjack shoes are the most stylish dress shoe but are a much more comfortable dress shoe on the market for the price point. My biggest gripe with Amberjack is the utter lack of wide versions of their dress shoes and more importantly they have yet to launch a new version of their shoes with a wide. Leaving us wide foot people hoping and praying that somebody will make that shoe we want in a wide. I understand this is a business model to keep the coming healthy and not keeping a huge inventory. For me, however, I think Amberjack and other dress shoe companies are missing the mark with this type of dress shoe. First, the shopper they are going after wants comfort. Look at the recent fashion industry and the focus is towards making work clothes comfortable. It is a fact that Wider shoes are healthier and more comfortable than the typical narrow dress shoe. Make wider shoes and market them as more comfortable. This shoe is for people who move and athletes which again a high percentage of those that move and are athletes have wide feet. Its why you see many people opting to wearing athletic shoes with dress and dress casual wear. Market the shoes towards this group and offer more wide versions you will capture the market. It would be great for Amberjack to offer a wide version for every shoe and to move towards introducing each new shoe with a wide version. If Amberjack actually targets these audiences they would definitely see a sale increase across the board. Huge fan of the shoes, but you really need to focus on the wide!
